A few days ago I posted about making use of some of the lovely Colette patterns and fabric I have in my stash, now I’m getting organised and serious, it’s time to start sewing.  The first two patterns I’m starting with are Beignet and Ceylon.

Firstly Beignet, here is my fabric.  I’m going for a three stripe skirt.

Here is my inspiration, a skirt shown on the Raystitch website.  They sell this wonderful range of Organic Crossweave fabric, I can’t recommend it enough, it’s a great fabric in a huge range of colours and is perfect for clothesmaking.

I’ve decided to go for the same colour choices for the Beignet, but without the colour band down the centre of the skirt.

Next is the Ceylon dress, here is the fabric, it’s a lovely yellow gabardine I picked up in the wonderful Fine Fabrics at Hillsborough.

I recently found a wonderful version of this dress on Lladybird’s blog, the added embroidery at the shoulders is lovely and suits the dress really well.  I have no plans to embroider on my version due to the fabric weight, but it’s something I’ll remember for future clothes projects.
