During my time as Chairperson of Craft Candy I had the privilege of organising many well attended craft fairs. I loved that work and at times really miss it (although I don’t miss juggling 3 different jobs and the 80+ hour week!)
I recently wrote some craft fair tips for Craftseller magazine and I loved being able to offer some advice to makers wanting to take their first step on the craft fair ladder. I’ve booked hundreds of stall holders over the years and I’ve seen most of the good, the bad and the ugly associated with attending a craft fair, as well as organising one. It’s about time I wrote all of this up, I hope some of it will be of help to some of you.
I’ll be writing a series of posts and splitting the topics between advice for those both attending and organising events. The first post will be an introduction to craft fairs for newbies with some helpful advice about looking for the perfect event to showcase your work and tips on what to expect at your first event. If there is anything in particular you’d like to know for this or future posts then please leave me a comment.
