The 10th Doctor

The 10th Doctor

I just have to sing to the heavens today about a super talented crocheter, Allison Hoffman.  She sells under the name Crafty is Cool and this Austin based artist is so unbelievably talented.

At the end of 2012 she announced she was releasing the patterns to her adorable Doctor Who set and as the sci-fi geek that I am, I was drooling over my keyboard.  You can read all about the set on her blog.  The Doctor Who patterns, which include all 11 Doctors and Tardis, are available on pre-order now at a special price so grab them whilst you can.

Allison has created lots of wonderful characters, here are just a few of my favourites, all of these link directly to the Ravelry pattern pages.

My crochet skills are very VERY limited but in recent years I’ve been determined to improve.  I recently completed my first set of Amigurumi for my niece for Christmas and by the time I’d finished I really didn’t want to give them away.  I made a set of 3 bears and Merida from the Brave movie from patterns by Sahrit Freud Weinstein, my niece loved the film and so I wanted to create her a special gift to go with her other Brave themed presents she got for Christmas.  Sahrit also has a wonderful Spiderman crochet pattern, I hope she does some more as I’d love to see an Iron Man or Batman pattern.

Another of my favourite Etsy sellers who also creates wonderful crochet patterns is UK based LucyRavenscar, her Chewie amigurumi and matching set of Star Wars characters are wonderful and are also on my list of crochet projects for the future.
